Mini & Micro Segmental Piling (SFA) in London

If your project site in London has restricted access, low headroom, or unstable soil conditions, then Mini or Micro Segmental Piling—also known as Segmental Flight Auger (SFA) piling—is the ideal foundation solution. At Arma Piling, we provide professional SFA piling services using a range of compact and mid-size rigs, perfectly suited for residential, commercial, and complex build environments.

This vibration-free method is designed for use in ground conditions such as wet, gravelly, or sandy soil, where traditional boreholes may collapse after auger removal.

What Is Segmental Flight Auger (SFA) Piling?

Segmental Flight Auger piling involves drilling a borehole using short auger segments (1–1.5m), which are installed manually metre by metre. Once the target depth is reached, grout or concrete is pumped through the hollow stem of the augers while they are withdrawn slowly. This stabilises the borehole and prevents collapse. While the concrete is still fresh, a reinforcement cage is inserted to complete the pile.

This method is extremely versatile and ideal for:

  • Sites with limited access or low headroom
  • Basement construction or underpinning
  • Urban environments requiring low noise & vibration
  • Wet, unstable, or granular ground types
